Break from studying
The value of time has increased exponentially within the last decade. We are now in a time where the margin between when we want something (i.e. information) to when we get something (i.e. via google) is so microscopically small - that if that margin was any larger, we’d go ballistic (or at least I would anyway). Ten years ago, I waited 10-15 minutes, sometimes up to 30, for a single...

Job creation
In some early, random tweet I said something like this… the biggest job creator of the decade: Mark Zuckerberg. His “gift” to the nation was Facebook, which i believe has translated in job creation similar to WWII, the inception of the internet, and possible this multi-billion dollar job/economic stimulus created by Obama (infrastructure improvement). [Disclaimer: this is not a...

Career Soup
I’m feeling privileged to have spent the last year at Gap’s HQ offices — with a year left of college. And work, it’s been fascinating and rewarding. If you’re wondering just what the heck I do here, I’ll update sometime soon..

Chicken or the Egg?
So I had this brewing in my head during lunch and I have to document this quickly before it evaporates from my mind. My question is, what’s more important — new technology or great user experience? Pro user experience Let’s say you have a break through technology. It’s awesome. It’s new. Everyone’s loves the idea. Then you create a product out of it, only to...

I wish I had the clairevoyance to forsee things like Twitter. Facebook. Even Microsoft Outlook. I use to be proud of my ability to BS my way through HS essays’ minimum page-requirements. Now I can’t express myself without being incredibly wordy. And today, the real world demands concise language. Email. Twitter. Your FB newsfeed. You name it. It’s just like how the educational...

Technology and social networks
Myspace was out-dated because of spam and competition. Facebook will be outdated because of lack of privacy and spam (those club event flyers found its way from my Myspce to my FB inbox). So, what do u think will be the ending of Twitter?

(Thoughts on) the world economic system
RT @realtalibkweli: A world economic system that depends on infinite growth cannot function on a planet with finite resources. #balladoftheblackgold Great point. Which is why (1) innovation and (2) foreign investment are mandatory to keep our global economic system healthy and growing. Innovation: Stretch “finite”. The context of innovation here is finding new ways to provide...

Cool man, cool.
Cool. Just received kudos from IT. This time in recognition certificate form. It’s for creating new ways to present media, navigate through content and drive engagement. Basically, website optimization. Also, (somewhat) cool. Got the Finance class I sat in on. Ten weeks of dry jokes & monotonous lectures - powered by an inflated ego. Ow ow.

Beautiful Saturday
Agenda: Free my mind! Heading to Barnes and Noble to educate myself. I’ve had my mind on one particular book, “Traffic” by Tom Vanderbilt. Psychology of Driving. Isn’t it crazy how we as drivers and daily commuters move in complete unison with hundreds of other drivers - everyday. We are all different individuals moving as one. One harmony. Tell me that’s not nuts....

I love music.
Music is my best friend. It accompanies me during work. It soothes me during long commutes. It waits for me to arrive home. It joins me for dinner. It tells me I’m doing great. It encourages me to do better. It’s there when no one else is. It listens and understands. It doesn’t have all the answers but it always shows empathy. And that’s what best friends are for.

Because it doesn't happen everyday.
Glad. Just received kudos from the IT department for introducing a new methodogy for presenting content on our internal sites’ homepages. Basically, I developed a template to effectively manage site space (you know, above-the-fold space) and link to more relevant content. Hopefully this will be flexed by those around the company.

squarebeezysteezy: I can’t believe I went back and read all my old tumblr posts just now. I should get back into writing meaningful entries again. Eh, maybe tomorrow? Please stay sunny Daly City. I like you better this way.

RIP Jun "Nujabes" Seba
It has touched us all. We play his music in remembrance of the great life he lived and the soulful music he left us. Many of us have never heard his voice yet we are distraught because his music resonated with us - tied with past memories, certain segments of our life. So in a sense - in his passing, we feel like we have lost a part of our own history. For me, his music was essentially the...

Reblog: "I just want to know...
I’ve received a lot of text messages and read a lot of blog posts about urban paradise today. It feels good to know that we hosted a successful show, but since taking it over it has always been about offering something to our bay area scene that is unlike anything else. The way i see it, we are years behind the amount of audience members and energy that you see at socal shows and competitions....

2 things Facebook could do to improve, for them...
I’m sure if you have a Tumblr account, you have a Facebook account. And it’s not crazy to assume that if you have a Fb account, you fan at least one page. Right? Well I was thinking about these fan pages run by businesses and thought about two things: (1) What makes Facebook so successful & why it might hurt biz fan pages and (2) What Facebook could do with their product to...

2010: do work
Quick post—haven’t been on this thing for a while. So what’s been up? 2010: work.  Started school on Jan 4. Right back to MWF work, TTh school and company. But if you ask me if I’m enjoying myself, I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes. What’s life without stress? LA next week. I’m hyped.

My first birthday invitation since my big 1-0
Free next Saturday - the 26th? The beach is where it’s at - Seabright Beach from 11-6ish. You know you want in that ocean breeze against your skin. And you know you want in on them skimboards, too.  But sorry, folks. This ain’t a cook-out. No one will be flipping burgers. It’ll be mo-like a ‘pot luck’ - so BYOF. And if you’re really down, we can grub afterwards. BJ’s is the...

Relaxing in, what is universally perceived as, Paradise, I’ve learned that you can create your own Paradise sans the tropical surroundings.  Sleep early and rise when the sun does. Then do something that decorates your day with laughter. All this is just easier when you’re advantageously stuck on an island. That intended Picto-blog became a Facebook Album.  Enjoy!

Must be nice
to live in Paradise. Kaua’i reinvigorated my interest for the islands’ culture, the music, the lifestyle, ”da kine.”  Maybe even life in general. Some things you can’t blog.  I can list all the dang things I did, but it would have no value to you or me.  Even if I listed it, your attention span would run out before I was finished.  Sure, it might be cool to hear,...

"in the warm California sun.."
Yesterday, Sunday, I went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk with Richard. When we arrived, around 11 am, some slight overcast hovered over the beach.  Pedestrians were layered in sweaters and scarves, anticipating a cold and dreary Sunday afternoon.  I knew they were gonna get smoked… By mid-day, it was about 78 degrees, the skies were clear blue, the sun was intensely beaming, and the...

What Kanye & I have in common
is a summer internship at Gap Inc. Headquarters. What has Gap given me thus far? An experience. I think Yeezy would agree, “nothing worth knowing can be taught.”  In my last four weeks here, Gap has given me the opportunity to learn about the company–inside & out, immerse myself within the retail industry, and build my career in ways the stores can’t.  And that’s only the tip of...

"How to Get Your Point Across in 30 Seconds or...
1..2.. Weird.  Last week, I actually bought a book.  Who knows how long its been since I’ve last bought one. Is it because I don’t enjoy reading? No. I read everyday, throughout the day. The paperless route. But the title caught my eye, and this line sold it to me.  “‘God, he talked for an hour, and I don’t know what he said.’” I hear this all the...
